A meme (if pronounced "mee-mee," which is probably the one you want to know about because of their frequency on deviantArt) is basically a survey, but instead of writing the answer, you draw it. Fill-in-the-blanks.
If you pronounce it "meem" (rhymes with cream) it's an internet trend, whether it be slang, an image, a video, etc. Like "I herd u liek mudkips" or the troll face.
(Alternately, it's the French word for same, if pronounced "mem" with an accent over the first e.)
